Kopsavilkums

The aim of this paper is to analyze project management approaches and their significance in the context of film festival management, as well as to investigate which of these approaches are applied in the facilitation of management processes at RIGA IFF. The study explores the specifics of managing an international film festival, the application of project management approaches in film festival management, and the use of various project management approaches in the management of RIGA IFF. The study is based on qualitative methodology. In-depth, semi-structured interviews and semi-structured participatory descriptive observations are the methods chosen to obtain empirical data.

The conclusion is that the management of RIGA IFF is based on a hybrid project management approach, where an agile project management approach is used to improve the processes at RIGA IFF and in individual innovation projects and process initiation stages, while a traditional project management approach is used in the management of individual departments and during the execution and result implementation phases of the festival season. Currently, there is no identified need to expand the agile project management approach parts in RIGA IFF operations; however, the developed operating principles that utilize an agile project management approach can serve as a model for the management of other film festivals and organizations.
